See a design on a body photo, explore its position and proportions, and take a clearer idea to your tattoo artist.
SEE IT ON SKIN
A design feels different on your own arm
A long snake design follows the angle of the forearm. Add your artwork and a clear body photo, then turn and scale the design until the head, curves and tail sit within the area you want to tattoo.
Use artwork you own or have permission to use. A transparent PNG gives the cleanest starting point.

FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Move it until the placement feels right
A light botanical sprig can follow the curve of an upper arm. Rotate the stem, leave room around the leaves and compare a few sizes. Keep the same photo while you explore the position.
Screen proportions are a visual guide. Confirm the actual size and how the design follows your body with your artist.

BRING A CLEAR REFERENCE
Show your artist what you have in mind
A larger koi composition needs room for the head, fins, tail and water. Download the placement alongside the original design so your artist can discuss how the detail and proportions will work at the intended size.
This is a preview for discussion. It cannot predict needlework, healed color or how ink will age.

OPTIONAL AI BLENDING
Compare the placement with an AI preview
Start with the position you chose. AI can soften hard edges and interpret how the ink meets skin texture. Slide between the placed reference and the generated result to check the details.
AI may change skin texture or fine details. Keep the original design for your artist.

Try a design in three steps
01
Add the design and your photo
Upload your artwork or choose an unlocked design from My Ink. Add a well-lit body photo, or start with one of our demo photos.
02
Find a position you like
Drag, resize and rotate the design. Adjust the opacity and remove a white background when needed.
03
Download or blend with AI
Download a free Classic preview, or choose AI blending for a generated interpretation of the placement. Review the result before sharing it.
Before you try it on
Will the preview look exactly like a real tattoo?
No. A preview helps you compare design, position and proportions. Real skin curvature, movement, the artist’s technique and healing all affect the final tattoo. AI blending may also alter small details.
What kind of body photo works best?
Choose a sharp, naturally lit photo with the intended area clearly visible. Avoid strong filters, deep shadows, glare and clothing or objects covering the skin. A relaxed pose is easier to judge than a strongly twisted one.
Is tattoo try-on free?
Classic placement and PNG download are free, without sign-in. AI blending uses the same free-preview allowance as the other AI tools. Once that allowance is used, generation costs 1 credit. Unlocking the first free preview’s original also costs 1 credit. Check the price shown before confirming.
Will my body photo be public?
Classic editing and the draft stay in this browser until you explicitly save a preview or use AI blending. Saving to My Ink or using AI uploads the necessary image privately for 30 days. Share creates a public link to the output photo, including the visible body; it does not expose a separate input file. You can revoke the link.
Can I try on a design from My Ink?
Yes. Choose a finished design whose original is unlocked. You can also upload your own design. A reference photo of an existing tattoo should be cleaned into standalone artwork first.
What if my artwork has a white background?
Use the white-background removal option for artwork on clean white paper. It keeps darker artwork and color while removing the light background. Off-white paper, shadows and pale details can leave edges or lose detail; a transparent PNG is usually better.
Can I take this straight to a tattoo appointment?
Bring it as a visual reference, together with the original artwork. Your artist still needs to check the dimensions, placement, line spacing and how the design works with your anatomy before preparing the final stencil.
